Step 1: Ask tax payers to suggest and vote for a name for a research vessel their tax dollars paid for.

Step 2: Embrace the fact that you might not think the chosen name is ‘respectable’ and that science should be more approachable.  Imagine how many more followers ‘Boaty McBoatface’ would have over any other research vessel.
