Rime ice builds into the wind. Water droplets from a cold, moist wind deposit onto a surface facing the wind, freeze and slowly accumulate, making unique structures.  Here, the rime ice is building onto some old tree branches.  In some places, rime formations can be the size of cars and can break off the side of a mountain with warming.
