Imagine 24,000 scientists and supporters gathering in one location for a week long celebration and collaboration of the latest and greatest knowledge of all things geoscience!  This isn’t a nightmare, nor a dream, this is AGU, the American Geophysical Union annual meeting.  Multiple sessions with talks and posters in different buildings are all happening simultaneously, as well as the expo with the newest research and teaching tools for geosciences. If you are totally overwhelmed by this over saturation of science, you can always go for a run, go shopping or take a nap.  Collaboration is unavoidable, as is fascination.  If you are ever in San Francisco during this week in mid-December, just look for the people with the name tags walking the streets, and say, “Thank you for being a geoscientist!”
