Paws, chatter marks, and boots

Click on the image to enlarge it and then click again to zoom, you can almost feel the chatter marks! Glacier flow was from bottom of photo (North) to top (South).

I was sooooo excited to see another marble-topped mountain with beautiful striations, I almost pulled a random hiker over to the outcrop to share this with them!  But they were busy on their cell phone and I didn’t think they’d appreciate it as much as I did.  Mt. Cube in Orford, NH is one mound along the Appalachian Trail with great views!  Of striations!  Next time you see a really smooth bedrock surface on top of a mountain, challenge yourself to find striations, grooves, chatter marks, or glacial polish, you won’t be disappointed!
