I recently visited the `Lucerne of Vermont’, Lake WIlloughby after a recommendation from a local. Lucerne is a city in northern Switzerland with mountains, shear cliffs, and a beautiful lake that occupies a depression carved out by glaciers during past ice ages. Lake Willoughby also has cliffs that rise up out of the water on either side, carved by glacial action similar to its Swiss doppelganger. The landscape is stunning as you drive in from the south and up over the moraine ridge toward the lake and cliffs of Lake WIlloughby. I took this photo from the boat launch on the south side of the lake before I hiked up Mt. Pisgah, where I met some wonderful fellow hikers who also appreciate dogs!
